What it is
A PowerShell script that copied Postgres databases from a server into a local Docker container has become a desktop app. You pick a source and a target, save connections once, and every run ends up in the log.
Try it
The installers for Windows, macOS and Linux are on the Mirrorbase releases page. The app is not signed yet, so your system warns on the first start; the release notes explain how to open it anyway.
What it does
- Pick source and target from saved connections
- List running Docker databases and choose from them directly
- Store passwords safely: sealed with AES-256-GCM, the key lives in the OS keychain, passwords never show up in command lines or the log
- Log of every run with progress and cancel
- PIN lock instead of a login: 4 to 8 digits, growing wait after wrong attempts, locks on screen lock and idle
- Help in the app: a step-by-step guide with search and frequently asked questions

Every database type is a plugin
PostgreSQL and SQLite are the first two plugins. A plugin describes its own input fields and the UI builds the forms from them. A new type is a new library and one line in the registry. The contract already carries neutral interchange types so that exporting and importing between different database types can follow later. That part is not built yet.
Tech
Electron, Angular, NestJS and Prisma with SQLite, as an Nx monorepo. The API runs in the same process and listens on 127.0.0.1 only.
