Why I built the app
In point fighting, the winner isn't necessarily whoever hits hardest. It's whoever reacts faster. A signal comes, and you have to hit right away, without thinking.
When I was preparing my students for a point-fighting kickboxing tournament, I was missing a tool for exactly that. I wanted to give them something they could also train with on their own, with signals you can't see coming. I couldn't find anything that fit, so I built it myself. That's how Kogni came about.
How it works
In Kogni you put together your own workout from rounds and exercises. You give it a name, set the countdown and get going.
Every exercise comes in two kinds:
Beep / sound: The app gives a signal at random intervals and you react immediately, for example with a counter or a blitz attack. For the signal you can choose a boxing bell, a whistle, an air horn or a simple beep, among others.
Number calls: The app calls out numbers. You decide beforehand which combination belongs to which number. “Three!” then means, say, jab, cross, side kick. It trains your head just as much as your legs.
The phone can simply lie at the edge of the mat. You only see what you need: the round, the exercise, a big timer and the start button.
Progress and your own look
Your profile shows how many workouts you've done, how long you've trained and how consistently you stick with it.
And if you like things a bit different, pick a design that suits you, such as Ocean, Athlete or Volcano.
There's also a marketplace with ready-made templates for kickboxing, boxing and MMA. The app is available in German and English.
Try it now
It all started with my students. Today Kogni is meant for anyone who wants to work on their reactions, in the dojo or alone in the living room.
Kogni is free on the Google Play Store:

If the app helps your training, you can support me in the app with a small contribution. It's voluntary; you can train either way.
